This popularity contradicts recent sensational claims that streamers “may lose their jobs” for playing Hogwarts Legacy on their channels, which is a baseless and easily discredited assertion that was widely circulated on social media.

It was always clear that Hogwarts Legacy would be a success, despite facing criticism. The high number of pre-purchases alone have made it one of the top-selling games on Steam, and it currently holds the number one position on the sales list.

However, the extent of this success is surprisingly impressive. It is important to note that this player count only encompasses those who purchased the deluxe edition at $70 or £60 and utilized the early access period on Steam. This does not take into account the sales of the standard edition, the deluxe owners who either chose not to or missed the early access period, and the releases on the Epic Games Store and various consoles, which are likely to attract even larger audiences.

Hogwarts Legacy story details

Hogwarts Legacy brings players to the wizarding world of the 1800s, set 100 years prior to the events depicted in the Harry Potter books. The game features an all-new story, in which players take on the role of a fifth-year student at Hogwarts who has been granted late admission due to their possession of a key to an ancient secret that threatens the world of witchcraft and wizardry. Players will embark on a perilous quest to uncover the truth hidden within the wizarding world, explore familiar locations, and encounter a fresh cast of characters, as envisioned by Avalanche Software.

Hogwarts Legacy open world setting

The setting of Hogwarts Legacy extends beyond the confines of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Players will embark on an open-world adventure, allowing them to explore various locations including the Forbidden Forest, Hogsmeade Village and potentially, new locations yet to be revealed by Warner Bros. Games. The highlight of the game is the fully-realized Hogwarts Castle, offering players the freedom to attend classes, hone their magical skills, brew potions, master magical creatures, uncover hidden dungeons and secret passages within the castle, and solve challenging puzzles scattered throughout the school.

The release of Hogwarts Legacy will be available on PC on February 10th, with the launch time set at 10 AM Pacific Time, 1 PM Eastern Time, and 6 PM GMT. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 5 version will become accessible at midnight in your respective time zone, with the exception of the North American Pacific time zone, which will become available at 9 PM. The launch dates for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions have been set for April 4th, while the Nintendo Switch version will follow on July 25th.

Squier stated that the main storyline of the game is intricate and captivating, featuring a diverse cast of characters and perspectives. However, by incorporating choice moments throughout the game, players are able to create their own unique version of the epic story.

Squier explains that the over 100 sidequests in the game also provide opportunities for players to shape the main campaign through their experiences. The player’s interactions in sidequests will affect their interactions with characters in the main storyline and vice versa, and the order in which they complete these quests will also have an impact on their story and game. All elements of the game are interconnected.

The studio’s statements about Hogwarts Legacy being open to player choices and the impact of sidequests on the main campaign are rather generic and not particularly informative. However, it is noteworthy that the game allows players to use darker magic and make choices that align with an “evil” path without significant consequences. This freedom to express oneself in this way is unique and interesting.

Providing players with the option to play as a Dark Witch or Wizard was crucial for us,” said lead designer Kelly Murphy. “This is the epitome of role-playing: giving players the freedom to make evil choices. And it is important to note that this feature is included without any judgment from the game creators. If a player wants to embrace evil, they should be able to do so.

This includes even the use of the Unforgivable Curses, which are a group of spells that are considered extremely dark and prohibited in the Harry Potter novels, using them would result in a lifetime imprisonment in Azkaban prison. However, in Hogwarts Legacy, the consequences for using these spells seem to be less severe.

According to Murphy, “Characters will respond with visual and audio cues when they see the player casting an Unforgivable Curse, but the game won’t have a morality system that punishes the player for using them, as it would be too judgmental on the game creator’s part. However, if the player continues to engage in these actions, the game world will reflect this through NPC reactions.”

Considering that the Harry Potter novels present a clear-cut narrative of good versus evil, it seems fitting that using these specific curses by children would be met with consequences. These spells are intended for mind control, torture, and murder. They are named “Unforgivable” for a reason, indicating that the use of them is considered morally wrong.

Many games offer players the choice to adopt an evil path, however, these choices often come with in-game consequences. Poor actions lead to negative outcomes. This does not seem to be the case in Hogwarts Legacy, despite the backlash against the author JK Rowling’s transphobia, the game remains highly sought after on Steam.

Since its announcement in July 2021, it has been confirmed that the game will feature improved graphics, with more intense aliens and gruesome deaths. The limb-severing mechanics from the original will also return and look better than ever. The release date and other changes compared to the original have not yet been announced.

When is the Dead Space remake release date?

The Dead Space remake is set to release on January 27, 2023, and will be available on Steam for purchase, so players can enjoy the game without the need for Origin. Additionally, those who pre-purchase the game will receive a bonus of the original Dead Space 2 game, creating a nice throwback experience.

The first official trailer for the Dead Space remake was released in October 2022, showcasing the updated visuals of the game’s gory and terrifying gameplay. The improved graphics make the “carnival of severed space meat” even more disturbing and beautiful. The classic gameplay mechanic of “cutting off their limbs” has been re-imagined with more realistic and high-fidelity blood and gore. An earlier teaser trailer is also available for those who want to get in the mood and feel more horror while waiting for the game’s release.

How will the Dead Space remake differ from the original?

The Dead Space remake is being entirely rebuilt using the Frostbite engine, making it a true remake in every sense. However, like other recent remakes such as Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake, it will not be an exact replica of the original game. Instead, it will be updated to appeal to modern players, and it will also include elements from the events of Dead Space 2 and 3, which were not present in the original game when it was first released.

In an interview with IGN, EA Motive revealed additional changes to the Dead Space remake. The limb-severing mechanics have been improved, and the zero-gravity sections have been made smoother. The game will also include modern features such as 3D audio and advanced effects and lighting. The entire game will play out seamlessly, with no loading screens between different areas of the ship. The creative director, Roman Campos-Oriola, also mentioned that EA Motive was able to implement ideas that the original developer, EA Redwood Shores/Visceral Games, were unable to execute due to technological limitations.

As noted in a preview by Tyler Wilde, the Dead Space remake is a faithful update of the original game, including features such as video calls with Isaac’s girlfriend and the crewmates of the Ishimura, the magnetic physics puzzles, and the iconic audio logs and corpse dioramas that were used for environmental storytelling in the late 2000s.

While the remake stays true to the original game, it also features new elements to enhance gameplay experience. The Zero-G sections have been updated to allow Isaac to float around using suit-mounted thrusters, similar to the sequels. New puzzles have been added, such as shutting off lights to activate an elevator, making the gameplay more intense. Areas that were previously safe in the original game will now have enemies, and an “intensity AI” will add unexpected necromorph attacks and manipulate the ship’s lights to enhance the scare factor.

Dead Space will have a fully voiced Isaac Clarke

In the original Dead Space, Isaac Clarke was a silent protagonist. The story follows Isaac, a crew member on a repair vessel sent to assist the planetary mining ship USG Ishimura. When the crew investigates a distress call sent by the Ishimura’s medical officer, they are attacked by mutilated corpses and Isaac must fight to survive against the Necromorphs. It was odd that the protagonist remained silent throughout this traumatic experience, which EA addressed in Dead Space 2 by adding voice acting for the character. For the Dead Space Remake, actor Gunner Wright will reprise his role as Isaac, allowing him to interact with key characters like Kendra Daniels and Zach Hammond throughout the story.

Dead Space Remake platforms have been confirmed

The Dead Space Remake will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. It will not launch on PS4 or Xbox One. EA Motive is focusing on utilizing new-generation technology and the Frostbite engine to completely revamp the game. The studio is putting a lot of effort into improving the visual quality and audio atmosphere of Dead Space, and working to enhance the combat mechanics and expand the scale of the USG Ishimura. The ship will now be fully interconnected, allowing players to explore without interruption from loading screens.

Will there be Dead Space 4?

It is unclear if the Dead Space Remake will lead to a full revival of the series. The last game in the series, Dead Space 3, was released in 2013 and was developed by Visceral Games, the studio responsible for creating the franchise. However, Visceral was shut down in 2017. Fans have been eagerly waiting for a new installment in the series, which is why the remake is generating so much excitement. For those looking for something entirely new, The Callisto Protocol by Striking Distance Studios is worth checking out. The studio is staffed by former Visceral employees, including Dead Space co-creator Glen Schofield, and it looks like it could be a spiritual successor of the series.

Forspoken release date

Forspoken, a new RPG from developer Luminous Productions, has been officially announced for release on January 24, 2023. This marks the second delay for the game, which was previously scheduled for a May release, then pushed back to October 2022. The studio has confirmed that the delay is a result of a “strategic decision” made in partnership with key partners. The game is now in its final polishing phase.

The game will be available on the PS5 and PC, but will not be available on Xbox One or Nintendo Switch. Sony has exclusive console rights for the game, and it will not be available on other consoles for at least 24 months after its release date.

During PlayStation’s September 2021 showcase, we were given an extended look at Forspoken, revealing more information about the game’s protagonist Frey Holland and her journey to the world of Athia. We learned that Frey’s powers stem from a set of gold cuffs that can speak to her, granting her incredible magical abilities that aid her in combat. Additionally, we learned that Frey will eventually face off against a formidable enemy known as Tanta Sila, portrayed by Janina Gavankar from Star Wars Battlefront 2.

Forspoken gameplay details

From what has been shown so far, Forspoken showcases Frey as an athletic and powerful hero. Frey has a unique skill called magic parkour, allowing her to run fast, leap great distances and use the environment to swing across gaps and climb vertical inclines. The game’s focus on magic is evident in all aspects of gameplay, from combat to exploration. Players can use and adapt various magical spells and combat styles to suit their preferred playstyle. Additionally, the game features RPG elements such as crafting, upgrades and gear to improve Frey’s abilities. To add a touch of realism to the fantasy setting, Frey can use shards to paint patterns on her nails, enhancing her spellcasting abilities. In a hands-on preview, players were able to try out some of the game’s layered spells in Frey’s arsenal.

Forspoken story details

Forspoken is an upcoming RPG game that follows the story of Frey Holland, a young woman from New York City who is suddenly transported to the fantasy world of Athia. In this new world, where reality and fantasy blur together, Frey must learn to harness her newfound magical powers to defeat monsters and the powerful beings known as the Tantas who hold dominion over the land. Her magic derives from a magical cuff, a bracelet that can speak to her and guide her in her journey. With the help of the cuff, Frey must defeat the Tantas in order to have a chance of returning back to her home in New York City and her beloved cat. The story is being led by writer Gary Whitta, known for his work on games such as Prey and is being crafted by a team of writers from film, TV, games, and fantasy literature, including Amy Hennig, Todd Stashwick, and Alison Rhymer.

Forspoken is said to have super fast loading times

Forspoken, an upcoming game developed by Luminous Productions, is said to have extremely fast load times on the PS5, according to the company’s technical director Teppei Ono. He claims that the game will take only one second to load on Sony’s latest hardware.

Dead Space Remake – 27 January

Dead Space is a survival horror video game that was originally developed by Visceral Games and released in 2008 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Microsoft Windows. The game is set in the year 2508 and follows the story of Isaac Clarke, an engineer who is sent to investigate a mining spaceship that has gone silent. As Isaac investigates the ship, he becomes trapped and must fight to survive against a group of undead creatures known as Necromorphs. The game’s remake was reimagined by EA Redwood Shores, who rebuilt the original game from the scratch to present it on the modern PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Must-play for every gamer.

Kratos will confront the Norse gods such as Thor, Odin or Freya and discover the secrets behind the prophesied Ragnarök. Kratos’ deadly equipment: The Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos and Guardian Shield are making a comeback in the sequel with the addition of new abilities for both heroes. This title is shaping to be a great sequel and additionally is one of the most anticipated games of the year, especially for PlayStation fans.

November 30 – Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

This brutal FPS created by Fatshark, a studio responsible for the successful and fan-favourite Warhammer: Vermintide series takes the players to the gloomy city of Tertium in which they have to defend themselves from hordes of bloodthirsty and menacing enemies. This new title combines the perfectly executed melee combat from Warhammer: Vermintide 2 with new ranged gunplay, allowing players to slay foes with both axes, swords and laser or projectile firearms. Additionally, players can customize their warriors appearance, class voice and even origin! Slaughtering various monsters with friends in a dystopian city sounds like a good idea for action-filled gaming evenings.

December 2 – The Callisto Protocol

This title looks like a must-have for fans of the Dead Space franchise. Developed by Striking Distance Studios, led by Glen Schofield who previously worked in now defunct Visceral Games, creators of Dead Space. In this third-person survival horror you take the role of Jacob Lee, a prisoner of the max-security Black Iron Prison. And similarly to Dead Space, everything goes to hell when people start to transform into bloodthirsty mutants. This visceral adventure will throw players into this sinister world and force to fight for their lives with many melee and projectile weapons, including a unique gravity-based firearm. A spiritual successor to Dead Space should be a great choice for survival horror fans who want to be both scared and sometimes be able to engage in a fight with the spooky creatures.

December 2 – Marvel’s Midnight Suns

In October we had a proposal from DC superheroes and in December it is the turn of Marvel’s villain butt kickers. Midnight Suns is a real-time tactical RPG in which you create your own unique superhero and team up with the Marvel’s most popular heroes such as X-Men, The Avengers and more to fight with sinister forces of Lilith and the elder god Chthon. I think that there should not be any worries about the tactical part of the game, as it is developed by Firaxis Games, the veterans of the genre and the developers of critically acclaimed XCOM series. In this title, the developers have introduced a card-based tactic and combat system for a unique experience. Midnight Suns are shaping to be a great title for Marvel fans and especially for those who love real-time strategy RPGs.

December 13 – Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion

At the closure of 2022 we have a final title in this list, a full-on remake of the PSP classic – Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. A spin off to the classic PS1 title (and its modern remake) Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core follows the story of Zack, a member of the paramilitary organization SOLDIER, looking for the missing member of SOLDIER called Genesis and unveiling the origin of the Project G. Being a prequel to Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core introduces many known characters from the former – Cloud, Sephiroth and more. Besides improved graphics, Reunion introduces a newly arranged soundtrack and fully voiced dialogues in English and Japanese. In terms of the gameplay, Crisis Core is an Action RPG in which Zack can travel between open arenas, talk with NPCs and engage with enemies in a real-time combat system with a unique “slot machine” mechanic, bringing unpredictability and surprises to the battlefield. You can never go wrong with the captivating world of Final Fantasy VII, its characters and combat, so this title can be safely recommended, especially for fans of the FFVII remake.
