Open World PC Games

Open world PC games on K4G are sold as Steam keys, Steam gifts and Steam accounts, plus Rockstar keys for Grand Theft Auto V. You get competitive prices and instant digital delivery, and every listing shows the platform, the region and, when a game has several, the edition. The picks range from an alien ocean and an infinite procedurally generated universe to a Norse-inspired wilderness and a crime-ridden city.

What kinds of open world games are on offer?

You'll find several styles of open world games on K4G. Exploration comes first in Subnautica, an underwater adventure on an alien ocean planet with a massive open world, and in No Man's Sky, an exploration and survival game set in an infinite procedurally generated universe. Terraria takes the sandbox route in two dimensions, with digging, fighting, exploring and building. The Elder Scrolls Online is a massively multiplayer fantasy RPG set in a vast living Tamriel, and Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced puts three criminals through a series of heists in the city of Los Santos.

Which open world games are built around survival?

Project Zomboid is a hardcore zombie survival sandbox where you loot, build, craft, fight, farm and fish. Valheim is a collaborative exploration and survival game in a procedurally generated world with distinct biomes, each with its own resources and enemies. Rust drops you on an island where wildlife, the environment and other survivors all want you dead. If this is your style, the survival games page has more.

Which of these can I play with other people?

Valheim, Terraria and Project Zomboid all support co-op, and Project Zomboid also supports shared or split-screen co-op and cross-platform multiplayer. Rust and The Elder Scrolls Online are built around other players: Rust adds online PvP, while ESO is a massively multiplayer world where you can also duel other players. Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced includes GTA Online. Subnautica, by contrast, is single-player, so it is the one to pick for exploring at your own pace.

Redeeming a Rockstar key: what are the steps?

Rockstar keys are not Steam codes. Install the Rockstar Games Launcher and sign in with your Rockstar Games account. Click your avatar in the top right, select Redeem Code and enter the activation code. Select Check to validate it, tick the checkbox at the bottom to confirm the items your account will receive, then select Redeem. Our Rockstar Games page lists more of the studio's titles.

How do Steam gifts and their regions work?

Project Zomboid is a good example: it is listed as a Steam gift and also as an account. Once the recipient redeems it, the gift joins their collection, and that handover happens only once. Some gifts are tied to the region where they were bought, and a restricted one names its allowed countries in its description in your Steam gift inventory. Match that list to your own country before you order.

Will my PC handle a big open world?

Large worlds tend to ask for more memory, graphics power and disk space, so read the system requirements on the game's Steam page; they list the processor, memory, graphics card and storage. For role-playing worlds, the RPG games page shows more of them to compare.

FAQ

Does Grand Theft Auto V here run through Steam?

No. Both Grand Theft Auto V listings, Enhanced and Premium Online Edition, are Rockstar keys, so the game is added to your Rockstar Games account and launched from the Rockstar Games Launcher. Enhanced is the upgraded version with improved visuals, faster loading and 3D audio.

Do I need an internet connection to redeem a Rockstar code?

Yes. Rockstar requires a valid internet connection for code redemption, and every activation code is one-time use: its contents are applied permanently to whichever Rockstar account is signed in when you redeem it.

Can I use a VPN to redeem a region-restricted Steam gift?

No. Using a proxy or VPN to disguise your location is against the Steam Terms of Service and may lead to restrictions on your account. If a restricted gift will not work in your country, you need a copy sold for your region.
